Division Street Skateparks Origins

Living in Central Oregon can be a challenge for skaters. There are never many good street spots and the local Park in Bend is far from adequate. Under the Highway 97 overpass of Division Street on the north end of Bend there is a large area of gravel under the bridge that is perfect . Plenty of room for a DIY project, away from the high end neighborhoods and businesses, and best of all covered and dry! Though we have lots of sun here in Central Oregon, a covered skatepark designed, built, and maintained by skaters . We have a strong core of mature skaters , and a good base of younger skaters with lots of energy. We also have some fantastic locally owned and operated skate shops who can get behind a cause such as this, as well as young seemingly sympathetic people in local government. We know it will lead to the meeting of many others who share our passion and goals. This is the start of something big for Central Oregon Skaters. We hope others take up the cause and join us in our effort to expand our sideways love. Lets make this something amazing, lets bring the world of skaters to us. Be prepared for lots of hard work and fun!

DSSP would like to acknowledge Jason Chinchen as the founder of this project. Jason is the man who envisioned this and without his hard work DSSP would not be where it is today. Mr Chinchen has moved from Bend Oregon but his spirit and vision still remain strong and evident as DSSP's wheels roll strong and continue to gain momentum.
